Analytics sprint or Tracking Care module

Social media analytics services that reconcile Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok with GA4

Our social media analytics services reconcile Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok conversions with GA4 key events and CRM leads every month, and name the reason for each gap, so social reporting holds up when finance asks.

Why Meta and LinkedIn numbers don't match GA4: three ledgers, five gaps

Each ledger counts a different thing. The ad platform counts conversions it can tie to its own clicks and views, inside its own windows. GA4 counts key events in sessions it recorded and credits them by its own model. The CRM counts the leads that arrived, whatever source came with them.

Why one social campaign shows different conversion counts in the ad platform, GA4 and the CRM: five gap reasons, how each ledger behaves, and what the reconciliation records
Gap reasonAd platformMeta, LinkedIn, TikTokGA4Key eventsCRMLead records
01Attribution windowsLonger window

Longer windows. Meta defaults to 7-day click and 1-day view; LinkedIn to 30 and 7.

Own lookback

Dates the key event when it happens; 90-day lookback by default for most key events.

Arrival date

Dates the lead the day the form arrives, with whatever source came with it.

In the reconciliationSame date range in all three, each platform's window beside its number.
02View-throughCounts views

Counts a conversion after an unclicked ad view, inside the view window.

Cannot see

Never sees an impression. The later visit arrives as direct, search or another source.

Cannot see

Never sees the ad. The lead carries the source of the visit that delivered it.

In the reconciliationView-through conversions get their own line: a platform claim with no visit behind it.
03Click IDs and UTMs strippedStill matches

Still matches through its pixel cookie, a logged-in user or its conversions API.

Loses source

Files it under Direct or Referral when in-app browsers, redirects or Safari strip tags.

Blank source

Empty source fields, unless hidden fields captured the UTMs on the landing page.

In the reconciliationUntagged links are listed and fixed where they live: the ad, post or shortener.
04ConsentWaits or models

Its pixel waits where your banner says so; some platforms model what they miss.

Partly modeled

Advanced Consent Mode v2 sends cookieless pings; behavioral modeling fills part of the gap.

Counts every lead

Records every lead; the GA4 client ID stays empty when no cookie was written.

In the reconciliation28-41% of CRM leads lack a GA4 client ID: a named share, not a fault.
05Cross-device and in-app browsersJoins devices

Knows the logged-in person across devices, so a phone view can claim a desktop conversion.

Splits people

Counts browsers unless sent a user ID; Google signals stopped joining devices in February 2024.

One record

Keys the record on email: one person, one lead, on any device.

In the reconciliationPlatform totals run highest on cross-device journeys; a GA4 user ID narrows that gap.

Tag a social link so all three ledgers can find it

The monthly reconciliation joins the ledgers on campaign names, so the UTM string and the ad platform's campaign name must match character for character. Pick the parts to build a tagged link.

What is social media analytics?

Social media analytics measures what paid and organic social do on your site: sessions, key events, leads and revenue by platform, campaign and creative. It rests on consistent UTM tagging, GA4 campaign reports, and a regular reconciliation against the numbers each platform and the CRM report.

How does social media attribution work across channels?

Social media attribution decides which touchpoints get credit for one conversion. Social often starts a journey that ends in search or direct, and last-click reporting hands the credit to the final step. GA4's conversion paths and data-driven model show the assist, while each ad platform keeps reporting its own view.

Same sale, three answers. Cross-channel attribution in the monthly report lays the three views next to each other for the same key event.

How often should social numbers be reconciled?
Monthly, with a check at each campaign launch. The launch check catches an untagged or broken link before it spends budget. The monthly pass compares platform, GA4 and CRM counts over a closed date range, which lets conversions that platforms add late inside their windows land before anyone compares totals.
How do you track social media ROI in GA4?
Tag each social link with UTM parameters, mark the actions that matter as key events, and read source, medium and campaign in the Traffic acquisition report. Add lead or revenue values and set them against each platform's spend. If the key events themselves are wrong, a Google Analytics audit should come first.
Why does GA4 show fewer conversions than Meta or LinkedIn?
The platforms claim conversions GA4 cannot see: ad views without a click, journeys that switch devices, and visits whose tags were stripped or refused. GA4 only counts key events in sessions it recorded. A reconciliation splits the difference into those causes before anyone calls the tracking broken.
Can you track organic social as well as paid?
Yes. Organic posts, profile links and link-in-bio pages get the same naming rule with utm_medium set to social, and GA4 files them as Organic Social. Untagged organic clicks from app browsers often arrive without a referrer and land in Direct, which is where organic social tends to hide.
How much do social media analytics services cost?
It depends on how you run it. A one-off analytics sprint gets a fixed quote, agreed in writing before work starts. As a module inside Tracking Care Plus or Pro it is billed monthly, with a 3-month minimum. The number of platforms, GA4 properties and CRM connections sets the effort.
Does Waftr run our social campaigns?
No. Waftr sets up and checks the tracking, reconciles the numbers and reports what they show. Your team or agency keeps campaigns, creative and budgets, which keeps the reporting independent of the people spending the money. Agencies can white-label the module through the agency partner program.
Which social platforms do you reconcile with GA4?
Any platform that reports conversions and accepts tagged links. That covers Meta for Facebook and Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube, and X, Pinterest or Reddit where you advertise. Each one is set against the same GA4 key events and CRM fields, which keeps the comparison like for like.
