2 Easy Ways to Find Your iPhone Model [Updated]

Most of us have a general idea of the Kind of iPhone we own. However, we have to keep in mind that since 2007, there have been 18 new models of the iPhone. Unless you closely monitor the Kind of iPhone you hold or sit through its launch, it isn't very easy to tell one apart from the other. To know which model of the iPhone you have, you need first to check it's iOS. For the iPhones with an iOS 10.3 or later, you can use the settings option on your phone to find out. Most iPhones that were launched before the installation of iOS 10.3 require you to find out their model numbers to know their model type. 

Here are the steps you need to take to figure out the iOS of your iPhone: 

  1. Select and open the Settings application on your phone. 
  2. Select the option titled 'General.' 
  3. Now, click 'About.' There will be an option titled 'Version,' next to which you can see what Kind of iOS you have on your iPhone.

Once you've understood the Kind of iOS you have, if it is iOS 10.3 or more, you can use the 'Settings' application on your phone to discover the Kind of iPhone model you have.  

Using 'Settings' Option to discover your iPhone model 

Well, let's find out! Once you've discovered what iOS you have, you can follow these steps to find your iPhone model. 

  1. Select and open the Settings application on your phone. 
  2. Select your Apple ID displayed (along with your photo). 
  3. Keep scrolling until you see a list of your devices. 
  4. Select the device which says something like, "Name's iPhone." 
  5. There will be an option titled 'Model' next to which you can see the Kind of iPhone model you own.

How to check my model in older iPhones? 

If you discover that the iOS of your iPhone is older than iOS 10.3, you'll have to figure out the Kind of model number your phone has. 

Here's how you can do that:

  1. Flip your phone, and on the bottom, you can see text in fine print below the 'iPhone' label. 
  2. The last few digits of this fine print will be similar to this format: "AXXXX" [An 'A' followed by four other digits]. 
  3. Make a note of that- that is your model number. 
  4. Now, each generation of iPhone has two-three unique model numbers. For example, iPhone 4 has the following models: A1349, A1332. And iPhone 4s has the following models listed under it: A1431, A1387
  5. Similarly, you can find out which model of iPhone you have by merely searching the model number online or looking for it on the official Apple website.
