Clubhouse has been in the rise since the beginning of 2021, thanks to Elon Musk and a few other celebrities who have managed to bring a lot of attention to it. So, What on earth is Clubhouse?
Clubhouse is an audio only social media platform that has been on the radar of internet users for a while now. Its for iOS only as of now but it seems like they are working on an Android version of the app as you read this. The power of voice has been explicitly show in the world of podcasts especially in the last 5-8 years. There are thousands of podcasts about varying topics like politics, science, sports etc., The main reason for such an uproar is mainly because podcasts lets you learn information while doing something else. It doesn’t require you to sit down and listen to it. You could be driving, commuting or even washing your dishes.
So, back to clubhouse, as of now millions of users across the world are flocking into it based on the invite only social media model they have. They haven’t provided any way to actually delete your clubhouse account directly from the app.
Steps to Delete Clubhouse account
This seems like a tedious process already but I bet there’s a delete feature that’s already on the works especially since this email process seems to be in the need of some serious manual work.
“Please log in to your account or contact us (at email@example.com) if you need to change or correct your Personal Data, or if you wish to delete your account.“
Its very unclear at the moment as to how long it takes for the company to take actions based on emails, but you could be sure that its not taking any less time that what you would assume.
From what users have mentioned online, they haven’t received any immediate response when a deletion request was placed via email.
Deleting the app doesn’t delete Clubhouse account
I cannot stress this enough. Since its an iOS only app, you might assume that you could just delete the app and be done with it. But that’s not the case. Once you create an account with Clubhouse, the information that you entered has been stored in the servers.
Yes, obviously the data will be removed from your phone. If you are happy with that, good for you. But its not advisable since information such as your phone number, email ID which is saved in Clubhouse’s servers could be heavily misused. *coughs Facebook coughs*
Biggest social media giants have clearly demonstrated that irrespective of how many millions that spend on data security, there’s always ways to exploit your fort.
In case of information like your contact info or even your contacts list could open you up to any number of threats related to your personal information. So, its always best to delete all info from Clubhouse servers if you choose to leave the app entirely.
The bottom line is… this email process is extremely tedious and I can assure you that a large sums of users who want to leave choose to stay in this app just to avoid doing this email process.
